Technology Transfer Officer - Barcelona, Spain

The Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICN 2 ) www.icn.cat is a non - profit private foundation created on July 2003 by the Government of Catalonia, the Spanish Scientific Research Council (CSIC) and the Autonoma University of Barcelona (UAB ). The objective of the ICN 2 is the research of excellence in th e areas of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology with the aim to become an international reference centre in these areas. The ICN2 manages European and National projects and is actively involved in the transfer of knowledge.
 
Duties :
 
The selected applicant for the post will be incorporated to the Knowledge and Technology Transfer Dpt. (KTT) of the ICN2 and will have the mission to promote, protect, catalys e and manage the transfer of technology, knowledge and innovation generated by the ICN2 . Its main duty will be the evaluation, the protection through patents and the management the ICN2’s IP portfolio .
 
In particular :
  • Detection, identification and assessment of existing and innovative technologies which can be commercially exploited .
  • Valorisation of the technology maturity and potential industrial interest .
  • Funding, management and protection of ICN2’s IP through patents and trademarks .
  • Management of ICN2’s Technical Services (analysis, characterisation, etc.) for external customers: sales quotations, invoicing and reporting , teamed with the Financial Dpt .
  • Writing technical projects, applications, and reports.
  • Database search of scientific articles and patents.
  • Promotion of collaboration agreements between researchers and the industry at local, national and international level . Follow up of private R&D projects.
  • Management and maintenance of a worldwide database of contacts , including companies, in stitutions and research groups, CRM - based.
  • Promotion and dissemination of ICN2’s research activities and results.
Candidate profile :
 
Mandatory: PhD, MSc or Bachelor Degree in Experimental Sciences, preferably Life Sciences (Biology , Biotechnology, Medicine, Pharmacy , Nanotechnology ) .
 
Previous working experience in an industry will be highly assessed.
 
Requirements:
  • Mandatory languages: Catalan , Spanish and English (high level , written and spoken) .
  • Mandatory: knowledge of the patents and trademark system at Spanish , European and International level. Patent filing experience, not writing necessarily.
  • Mandatory: document search experience in private and/or public databases.
  • Knowledge of the R&D and Innovation funding system at Catalan, Spanish and European level.
  • Prior experience in the pharmaceutical , biotech, chemical or similar industries , with functions related to the R&D and innovation , business development, project management, spin - offs business plans will be highly valued.
  • Previous experience in TT and commercialisation of technological products (licensing agreements and spin-off creation) will be valued.
  • Computing at user level: MS - Office, Internet.
  • Knowledge of customer management software and databases, i.e. CRM and/or ERP will be valued
  • High interpersonal and communicative skills,team working oriented to objectives, capacity of learning, flexibility and working skills.
Experience :
 
This job requires a minimum of 2 years previous experience in a similar post .
Full time fix term contract .
