High Power Impulse Magnetron Sputtering, (HIPIMS) – a ground-breaking technology used to pre-treat surfaces and deposit innovative new coatings – is now a global research field, with huge interest from industry. The project will include the development, optimisation and characterisation of the physical, chemical and structural properties of advanced surface engineering solutions that involve a hardening pre-treatment followed by the application of HIPIMS nanostructured coatings.

The normal minimum entry requirement is a first or upper second class honours degree (or equivalent) or a relevant masters degree.

We also consider applicants with the relevant academic study and work experience or training in research methods. We give special consideration to applicants with relevant research experience that may compensate for a lack of formal qualifications.
