Sr. Research Associate - USA

Brewer Science, a leading supplier of specialty coatings to the microelectronics industry, located in Rolla, Missouri, is currently seeking a full-time Chemist (Senior Research Associate).

 

Summary:

Engage in laboratory research and independent development to support advanced research project objectives focused on the development of temporary bonding adhesives, and characterization of their chemical and physical attributes. Experience in structural property relationships of polymer melts at elevated temperatures is desired. In-depth understanding of polymer physics and solvent based adhesives preferred. Other responsibilities include; Establish chemical composition criteria and specifications, and perform detailed characterization tasks utilizing design of experiments guidelines. Direct, coordinate, and exercise functional authority for planning, organizing, control, integration, and completion of research projects. Involved in implementing new chemical formulations that are integral to the success of Brewer Science and its customers.

• Rapid and seamless transfer of materials and processes to the product development engineering group

Responsibilities:
• Independently leads all aspects of research and development projects, and also leads the transfer through the Brewer Product Development process.
• Guides subordinates to complete tasks.
• Presents to customers and at industry forums.
• Documents work and initiates the submission of new intellectual property, and provides help with IP maintenance.
• Keeps up to date on current development needs and looks for alternative approaches to problems.
• Improves and teaches lab procedures.
• Responsible for communicating with supervisor, team members, and with cross-functional teams.
• Provides in-depth data analysis summary for new material testing and product problem solving needs.
• Helps set safety and housekeeping standards and monitors how they are practiced in daily activities.
• Keeps up-to-date on best laboratory notebook practices and helps to improve and implement the process.

Credentials and Education:
• Master's Degree plus 3 years experience
• Experience synthesizing blocked co-polymers.
• Experience utilizing blocked co-polymers in a variety of electronic applications.
• Understands directed self-assembly and has hands on lab experience working on the process flow.
