We seek a candidate to be employed as a PhD student within the ICN2 Phononic and Photonic Nanostructures group. The PhD candidate will be working on comprehensive thermal measurements by thermal SPM-based techniques (quantitative thermal characterization at the nanoscale), known as “Scanning Thermal Microscopy” (SThM), which is based on the exchange of thermal energy between a nanotip and a surface with dedicated nanoprobes.
The candidate will also be involved in the fabrication of samples by direct self-assembly of block copolymers and block copolymer nanocomposites
The PhD candidate will be working within the ICN2 Phononic and Photonic Nanostructures group (http://www.icn.cat/~p2n/). The thesis involves areas ranging from the physics of heat transport, instrumentation and metrology, nanofabrication to material science.
The candidate should have a BSc´s and Master’s degree in Physics, Material Science, Engineering or relevant studies. Excellent communication skills are essential while English language is a prerequisite.
