Applications are invited for a four year Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) funded research position under the supervision of Prof. Eithne Dempsey and Dr. Brian Seddon, Centre for Research in Electroanalytical Technologies, ITT Dublin, Ireland. Applicants will be expected to be highly motivated and have, or expect to receive, a 2.1 or higher Honours degree in Chemistry or a related subject. In addition to their research project, they will undertake specific taught modules thus enhancing their research expertise as well as furthering their professional development.

Description

The aim of the project is to achieve a unique detection strategy for real-time point-of-care monitoring of progesterone and will involve the evaluation of a sensitive nano-gold immuno-electrochemical technique (AURO-QUANT). Core skills gained will be in the broader area of analytical/physical chemistry and specifically will involve nanomaterial synthesis, immunosensor design and electrochemical assay methodologies.
