At its headquarters Greifswald-Insel Riems (Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany) Friedrich-Loeffler-Institut, Federal Research Institute for Animal Health, performs research on infectious, primarily viral diseases of food-producing animals, currently working in biosafety levels up to BSL3+ with a BSL4 laboratory and large animal facility currently commissioning. The Electron Microscopy Facility supports these interdisciplinary research projects providing expertise in morphological virus diagnostics and ultrastructural analysis of virus-host interaction. As a replacement for the soon retiring current head of unit we are looking for an experienced electron microscopist to head the unit and, besides providing service work, establish a strong research program in biological imaging including fluorescent imaging, live-cell video microscopy, correlative microscopy and electron microscopy. The electron microscopy lab is equipped with a Philips Tecnai 12 incl. SE-Detector and a FEI Tecnai spirit G2 incl. tomography software both with twin lens.
