RESEARCH INVESTIGATOR - University of Michigan, USA

Conduct research focusing on elucidating the molecular and physical basis of brain tumor growth, invasion and the response to novel therapeutics. The project will study the molecular and cellular mechanisms involved in brain tumor progression; the role of brain tumor stem cells; the formation and function of specific immunological synapses in vivo and the molecular mechanisms which mediate in vivo migration of immune cells into the tumor micro-environment. These projects will also explore the role of endogenous cancer ligands in determining lineage commitment in hematopoietic stem cells and their role in tumor progression. The project has a strong translational component to develop and implement novel therapeutics in human clinical trials for brain cancer; these include gene therapy strategies, small molecules and nano-technologies. Apply for grants and fellowships and participate and collaborate in grant applications with principal investigators in the lab. Publish and present results at national meetings.

Required Qualifications*

Ph.D. with a minimum of three years postdoctoral training in the molecular and physical basis of brain tumors. Record of publications in peer-reviewed journals.
