Scimagine is a startup supported by the Innovation Fund at the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST).
Are you looking to join the revolutiion in the way scientific community search and analyze the exponentially growing Nanoscience and Nanotechnology information? As a Freelance Curators you will work remotely in the initial stage of our startup growth with the opportunity for the best of the best to join our core team in KAUST at advanced stage. We require experts with broad and profound knowledge in any of the fields of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (chemists, material scientists, physicists, biologists, nanomedicine and nanotechnology engineers) and with access to the scientific literature and databases.
Responsibilities will include – finding, extracting, categorizing and keeping track for the numeric and conceptual data from the published scientific articles in your area of expertise. You will also contribute in the modification of our unique Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning algorithms-fortified database architecture for a better search, filtration and the visualization of the Nanomaterials valuable data.
A higher degree (PhD, or MSc with 2+ years of exp., or BSc with 4+ years of exp.) and in-depth knowledge in one of the following fields chemistry, physics, material science, engineering, biology or medicine. Relevant experience and good publication records in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology field being very desirable. Previous experience with scientific indexing databases is advantageous, but not mandatory. Strong analytical, structural and logical thinking skills is must. The successful candidates must be highly detail- and quality-oriented and must be able to identify the important data from the scientific articles quickly and accurately, extract, edit and categorize it. The most important quality of candidates is a dedication to our values – we want to build an excellent quality database for the scientist and engineers in the big field of Nano to make their work substantially efficient and pleasurable by making data that they need visible, searchable and flexibly filterable.
Interested candidates please send to firstname.lastname@example.org your detailed CV (please write Curator in the title of your email), containing the list of publications and projects, a motivation letter clearly emphasizing your specific area of expertise (please also list the types of nanomaterials you deal with, e.g. mesoporous silica NPs, carbon nanotubes etc., their synthesis and characterization techniques you know, e.g. TEM, VSM, BET etc. and the applications, e.g. drug delivery, photonics, GMR sensors etc., your experience and the appropriateness to the job role and our vision. Additionally, submitting a proposal with your vision and plan for the Nanomaterial Database Curation work is advantageous. We will respond immediately.
