Applications are invited for the post of Postdoctoral Research Assistant/Research Officer in Quantum Coherence in Mesoscopic Nanostructures in the Department of Physics at Royal Holloway, University of London to work on a project investigating semiconductor nanoelectronics at ultra-low temperatures.
As part of an EPSRC funded multi-institution (UCL and Cambridge) programme grant entitled “Nanoelectronic based quantum physics – technology and applications” we are seeking to appoint experimentalists to set up an ultra-low temperature facility and to subsequently investigate the properties of spin properties of electron chains in one-dimensional mesoscopic devices. A low decoherence environment will be needed to demonstrate possible applications in quantum computing.
Applicants should have a PhD and a record of high quality research and experience in two or more of the following areas:
- Electron transport measurements in semiconductors or similar systems.
- Low-noise measurements.
- SQUID techniques.
- Ultra-low temperature physics.
- Semiconductor processing.
