Closing date: 18th of August 2013 | Jnr. IME-041-2013
One postdoctoral position (duration of two years) is available at the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications (IET) (http://www.iet.ntnu.no/en) in the Faculty of Information Technology, Mathematics and Electrical Engineering (IME), Norwegian University of Science and Technology. The position is funded by NTNU.
Responsibilities
The postdoc will be involved in advanced optical characterization of heterostructured III-V semiconductor nanowires grown by molecular beam epitaxy as well as hybrid heterostructures of such nanowires with graphene. This is a research topic that was initiated by our group in 2012 and is based on our discovery of epitaxial growth of semiconductors on graphene. A YouTube video explaining this technology can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3wLOXHRVVwQ.
For this postdoc position we are looking for a highly motivated person to explore III-V semiconductor nanowire/graphene based structures and devices. The successful applicant will study the optical properties of individual nanowires and nanowire/graphene hybrids by low-temperature micro-photoluminescence, time-resolved luminescence (a ps/fs pulsed Ti:Saph laser and streak camera system is available), as well as by nano-optical techniques such as low-temperature scanning confocal optical microscopy. The candidate is also expected to take part in the optical characterization of various other III-V semiconductor nanowire devices developed in the group, including solar cells and lasers. In addition the candidate is expected to assist the supervision of PhD and master student with their works in the lab. All optical experiments will be performed in the Nano-photonics lab available at the Department.
Qualification
We seek highly qualified individuals holding a PhD degree in physics (specialized in semiconductor physics and optics), physical electronics or other relevant disciplines. The candidate should have extensive experience from optical characterization of semiconductor nanostructures (e.g. nanowires, quantum dots) or graphene. Experience from nanostructure device characterization is an added advantage.
