A two-year postdoc position starting February 1, 2014 with the possibility of extension is available at the Department of Chemistry, Aarhus University.
The position is funded by an ERC advanced grant led by Professor Henrik Stapelfeldt, and the research fields are experimental atomic, molecular and optical (AMO) physics / physical chemistry.
The candidate is expected to substantially contribute to the development and exploitation of experimental methods, based on short and intense laser pulses, to control the spatial orientation of molecules dissolved in liquid helium nanodroplets. The research objectives include: 1) Control and real-time monitoring of molecular rotation inside helium droplets. 2) Exploring superfluidity of He droplets including quantum vortices. 3) Ultrafast imaging of molecular reaction dynamics inside helium droplets
The candidate must hold a PhD degree in experimental Physics, Chemistry or Nanoscience and must have a strong intellectual potential and profound understanding of physics and optics. Experience with lasers, ultrafast optics and vacuum technology is necessary. The ability to supervise and guide students will be weighted highly positive.
