The nanotechnology center NanoSYD at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) invites applications for a postdoc position within the field of organic thin-film devices. The position is available as of August 1, 2014 or soon thereafter for a two-year period.
The position is related to the newly initiated Research Cluster on Organic Device Stability, which includes research groups from three different departments of SDU in addition to a number of international research groups (universities of Hamburg, Paris, Bonn, Graz, and Freiburg) and a company partner. The overall focus of the research cluster is to develop large-scale light-emitting transistors and solar cells based on organic thin-films with particular focus on the study of the degradation processes that reduce the device lifetime.
The topic of the postdoc position is theoretical studies of performance and stability of both organic light emitting transistors (OLETs) and organic solar cells using a drift-diffusion modelling approach. In addition, quantum chemical calculations are to be performed in order to provide input to the drift-diffusion model. The drift-diffusion based model will be made in collaboration with the external partner at TU Graz. The postdoc will be employed at the Mads Clausen Institute in Sønderborg and will visit and collaborate also with researchers at the Department of Physics, Chemistry, and Pharmacy in Odense.

The successful applicant should have:
• A PhD degree (or equivalent) within physics, engineering or a related topic
• A background in modelling of electronic transport within nano-scale devices and/or quantum chemical calculations.
• A strong academic record
• Good collaboration and communication skills
• Interest in co-supervising BSc, MSc, and PhD students connected to the project

Employment as postdoc is temporary. Level of qualification is a PhD.
If special circumstances exist employment may be extended for one year.
Research will be predominant in the position. Teaching assignments can be agreed individually. Furthermore, other types of assignments may occur to a limited degree.
The Faculty determines the distribution of the various assignments. The weighting of the different assignments may vary over time.
Applications will be assessed by an expert. Applicants will be informed of their assessment by the Faculty.
As part of the overall assessment of the applicant’s qualifications, an interview may be applied.
