Job description:

This 2-years postdoc position at the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory (INL - Braga/Portugal) is aimed at the advanced electron microscopy characterization and the extraction of quantitative information with high spatial resolution from challenging samples.

We seek a highly motivated scientist with experience in high resolution Electron Microscopy (HRTEM and HRSTEM) to carry out imaging and spectroscopy experiments to characterize nanostructured samples related to catalysis and microelectronics applications. Many of the scientific cases in this project present challenging experimental conditions, such as the imaging of radiation sensitive samples and the acquisition of spectra from small atomic clusters and single dopant atoms.

The position will involve the use of the most modern Electron Microscopy facilities at INL and partner research institutions, including the aberration-corrected FEI Titan ChemiSTEM and a FEI Helios Nanobeam. The experiments to be performed include atomic resolution HAADF-STEM, and high spatial resolution EELS and XEDS mapping under controlled conditions.
