The Centre for Nano Optics (www.sdu.dk ano-optics) at the Department of Technology and Innovation, University of Southern Denmark (Odense), invites applications for a postdoctoral position within the field of plasmonics. The position is available as of February 1, 2014 for a three-year period with the possibility for further extension.
The position is related to a new 5-year ERC-funded project that comprises experimental investigations of interactions of individual quantum emitters with localized and propagating surface plasmons supported by metal nanostructures to be fabricated using electron-beam lithography and/or focused ion-beam milling technique. The aim is to study fundamental physical phenomena in light-matter interactions at the single-photon level, with individual quantum emitters, such as quantum dots or nitrogen-vacancy centers in nanodiamonds, being coupled to strongly confined and enhanced electromagnetic fields associated with surface plasmon excitations. The research is conducted in close collaboration with a number of international research groups.
We offer a challenging position in an international and stimulating environment with the state-of-the-art infrastructure for optical characterization at nanoscale and access to modern nanofabrication facilities, providing an excellent opportunity for collaboration both within Denmark and with renowned international research groups.
Potential candidates for the postdoctoral position are expected to have a relevant PhD degree and documented research experience within experimental quantum nano-optics and strong academic record. Experience in advanced nanofabrication and optical characterization of plasmonic waveguides and resonant nanostructures will also be considered as an advantage.
