Deadline: February 9, 2015
We are expanding our research activities in environmental catalysis within the strong collaborative project “HyDeCat: Enabling Ultra Deep Hydrodesulfurization by Nanoscale Engineering of New Catalysts”. The project aims at engineering, atom-by-atom, future catalytic solutions to the environmental challenges faced globally by oil refineries, where the removal sulfur and nitrogen constituents in oil products must be advanced.
We employ a multidisciplinary platform including state-of-the-art characterization tools, surface science techniques, microreactor testing and size-selected nanoparticle synthesis; competences that are made available at Haldor Topsoe A/S, the Technical University of Denmark, the iNANO center at Aarhus University and affiliated partners in UK and USA.
Your efforts will be to undertake experimental studies of MoS2-based catalysts using (scanning) transmission electron microscopy (S/TEM) and to contribute actively to our collaborative research goals. The studies will involve single-atom sensitive electron microscopy in collaboration with international leading researchers at the SuperSTEM Laboratory (UK) and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (USA). The position is a 1.5-year PostDoc position.
Your responsibilities
- Develop our atomic-scale model for MoS2-based oil refining catalysis
- Experimental research related to our oil refining catalysts
- Application of S/TEM with single-atom sensitivity
