PhD Studentship - Functional 3D nanocomposite

Project Title: Functional 3D nanocomposite bone tissue scaffolds Bone repair and regeneration is one of the most important issues concerning human health. With the aging population and the growing interest in outdoor sports, bone fracture, osseous defects and skeletal diseases have been increasingly observed. An ideal bone scaffold is an inorganic-organic hybrid composite possessing hierarchical porous structures with desired mechanical function and mass transport properties. 3D printing techniques provide a versatile and feasible technique to design and fabricate hierarchical complex structures for bone scaffold applications. This project will look at the design and fabrication of polymer nanocomposite constructs with hierarchical porosity and specifications for bone tissue engineering.
