The Weierstrass Institute for Applied Analysis and Stochastics (WIAS) is an institute of the Forschungsverbund Berlin e.V. (FVB). PhD student position

“Partial Differential Equations”
(head: Prof. Dr. A. Mielke) and
“Laser Dynamics“
(head: Dr. U. Bandelow).
We seek a mathematician/physicist with University master or diploma degree who is interested in a promotion in the field of mathematical modeling and numerical simulation of semiconductor lasers.
The candidate is expected to collaborate within the DFG SFB 787 “Semiconductor-Nanophotonics”, where the position is financed within project B4 (Multi-dimensional Modeling and Simulation of VCSEL-Devices, see http://www.wias-berlin.de/projects/sfb787-b4/).

The appointment is limited until December 31, 2014. The reduced work schedule is 29,25 hours per week, and the salary is according to the German TVöD scale.
