A three-year PhD fellowship is available in the team of Pr. Gero Decher at the Institut Charles Sadron (CNRS/Strasbourg University, France). We offer a high quality research environment at the forefront of materials chemistry and nanoscience, on a multidisciplinary campus dedicated to material science with an excellent equipment pool.
We are seeking for a highly motivated candidate holding a master degree in chemistry, physics, nanoscience, materials science or related discipline. The successful applicant needs to have a solid background in inorganic nanoparticle synthesis and self-assembly, plasmonics and/or electronic properties of nanomaterials, and a strong desire to work on a multidisciplinary project at the frontier between materials chemistry, physics and nanoscience.
The project aims to synthesize metallic nanorods and nanowires and to deposit these as thin films using a novel method we recently developed which allows the alignment of anisotropic nano-objects on surfaces. The optical and electronic transport properties will be investigated as function of the thin film geometry.
The starting date should be between June and October 2014.
Application should include motivation statement, curriculum vitae, courses taken at the bachelor and master level and grades. The applicant must have excellent grades and ranking. Applications will only be considered if all documents are provided. Please send your application by email to matthias.pauly@ics-cnrs.unistra.fr
