The candidate will report to the R&D Director and will be part of a team of experts working on the biomedical/biotechnological application of a new bioconjugation technology that allows to create different types of conjugates among biomolecules, drugs, nanoparticles, among others.
Description
- Responsible for conducting research on different functionalization strategies in order to adapt different micro and nanomaterials to our bioconjugation technology. - Responsible for creating detailed Project Plans including scientific approaches and realistic deliverables with timelines. - Detailed physicochemical characterization of the functionalized materials. - Optimize the functionalization process in terms of reliability and cost effectiveness for a later scale-up and production. - Design experiments, analyze data and prepare reports for qualification, validation and troubleshooting of the functionalization strategies. - Takes part in the Intellectual Property strategy of the company and its implementation. Requirements - PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Polymer Science, Biochemistry, or related field with 3+ years experience. Candidates possessing a M.S. degree in a relevant field with 8+ years experience will also be considered. - Hands-on experience and knowledge in data interpretation regarding relevant material characterization techniques including DLS, zeta-potential, TEM, SEM, FTIR, UV-Vis, XPS, XRD, TGA, SQUID. - A proven track record in surface chemistry and functionalization of micro/nano structured materials (e.g.: gold, magnetic and polymeric nanoparticles, quantum dots, carbon nanotubes, cantilevers, gold surfaces) is required. - Broad knowledge in protein, nucleic acid, enzyme and peptide chemistry is highly desirable. - Experience in the mono and multi-biofunctionalization of micro/nanomaterials with a wide variety of biomolecules including antibodies, enzymes, drugs, nucleic acids, peptides, etc. - Experience in the application of biofunctionalized materials in the biomedical and biotechnological field is highly desirable. - Experience in nanoparticle synthesis will be a plus. - Candidates with industrial experience will be strongly favored. - Strong verbal and written communication skills including a track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals and the ability to create and successfully implement experimental test plans. - Demonstrated ability to work equally well independently and as part of a larger multidisciplinary team. - Self-motivation and strong attention to detail to efficiently complete tasks outlined in experimental test plans within scheduled timelines to ensure timely transmission of data to other project teams.
