Closing date for applications: Wednesday 1st June 2014

You will provide technical support to the MicroStructural Studies Unit (MSSU) and the Surface Analysis Laboratories in the Mechanical Engineering Sciences department. Although the major role will be to support postgraduate research students, you will also be required to support undergraduate projects and conduct some work for external customers.

You will have good communication and IT skills. A qualification in Material science, or similar discipline, plus some relevant work experience, or learning gained through work experience (including short courses and other formal training) is essential. Knowledge of standard metallographic preparation equipment and procedures, plus an operating knowledge (or potential for) of light and scanning electron microscopy is required.
