ETH Zurich invites applications for the position of Managing Director of the Scientific Center for Optical and Electron Microscopy (ScopeM), a major scientific technology platform at ETH Zurich, which has recently been established through the merger of ETH Zurich’s electron and light microscopy facilities. ScopeM employs over 20 scientists and technicians, maintains and develops extensive state-of-the art electron- and light microscopy equipment and supports a wide variety of interdisciplinary research and training programs.

Reporting to the ETH Zurich Executive Board, your task as ScopeM Managing Director will be to implement and complete the merger of the electron and light microscopy facilities and assume responsibility for the operation and development of the platform. The success of the merger is measured by the satisfaction of both user and staff, and the quality of research and teaching carried out within the framework of the center.

You can demonstrate a track record in leadership and have experience in change management as well as process optimization and finances. Strength in communication as well as customer orientation and the ability to work with diverse and interdisciplinary teams of highly qualified professionals are an important part of your skill set. A solid background in natural or engineering sciences with knowledge of electron and/or light microscopy techniques and experience in managing core facilities in academic and/or industrial settings are a plus. You like working in a dynamic environment dedicated to cutting-edge science and education, and your analytical skills allow recognizing and implementing the changing needs of the different stakeholders.
