The Department of Engineering at Lancaster University is a General Engineering department that is ranked highly in national league tables. We pride ourselves in achieving the highest levels of student experience. In research, our interests span topical areas of relevance to the world at large, including sustainable engineering systems, the engineering of the world’s next generation particle accelerators, nuclear engineering, micro- and nano systems and manufacturing & structures. We aim to provide inspiring insight from our research and to work with the next generation of the world’s leading engineers. In the 2014 Research Excellence Framework, 91% of our research and 100% of our impact in General Engineering was assessed as internationally excellent and world leading.
We now seek a talented lecturer in Chemical Engineering, to complement existing research strengths such as, but not limited to, hydrogen fuel cells, catalysis, waste processing and water management. This is a full-time, permanent lectureship appointment. You should have a PhD in a relevant research field, an outstanding publication record and a strong willingness to research and teach at the highest levels of quality. Evidence of an ability to attract external grant income to support your research is highly desirable. Experience of outreach activities, professional accreditation, relevant teaching qualifications and evidence of teaching excellence are encouraged.

Active involvement and collaboration with the existing specialist research areas of the Engineering department, along with relevant activities in the other departments of the Faculty of Science and Technology will be encouraged. The Engineering department works with a variety of stakeholders from local schools and colleges, through to small enterprises and international engineering businesses. Lancaster University is campus-based and is situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty in the North-west of England, 1 hour from international airports and close to two national parks. The region is home to a variety of excellent schools and enjoys excellent public transport links. A wide selection of facilities are available on campus including a new sports centre and highly-regarded pre-school centre. The campus lies close to motorway and national rail links.
