Most recent discoveries in the field of condensed matter, from graphene to thetopological insulators, and to the interfaces between insulating oxides, lead to the study of two-dimensional electron gases. By employing infrared and Terahertz spectroscopy, our group could recently observe the metal-to-insulator transition in heterostructures of manganites [1] and demonstrate the existence of Dirac plasmons in a topological insulator [2], thanks to the use of samples petterned on a micrometric scale. The present fellowship will be used to continue this research on the interfaces of oxides, also through international collaborations for sample preparation. [1] A.
