University of Madeira and Centro de Química da Madeira, Madeira Island, Portugal, invite applicants with a Bachelor or a Master degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Life Sciences, Materials, Physics or related sciences/engineering courses to apply to the 3rd Edition of the Master Programme in Nanochemistry and Nanomaterials (more info at www.uma.pt/mnn ).

Deadline for applications: 30 of June (17:00 hours: GMT – 2nd Call).

Tuition fees: €2500/Year in 10 installments (2014/2015). Tuition fees reductions for the best 10 applicants.

IMPORTANT: the best student from abroad will receive a grant in the first year, in a total amount of €1250 (A corporate sponsorship of As One company).

The Master programme will be taught in English and starts in September 2014 with full time attendance.

Accredited by the Agency for Assessment and Accreditation of Higher Education - A3ES, registered at Institute of Nanotechnology and the degree recognized by the People Republic of China (Agreement between Portugal-China)

Applicants must provide the following documents:

a)         Motivation letter in English;

b)         Copy of the Identity Card/ Citizen Card/Passport;

c)         Copy of the Taxpayer Identification Number (only for Portuguese citizens who do not present the citizen card);

d)         Curriculum vitae preferably in the Europass format;

e)         Copy of the diploma and transcripts of completed courses and grades (when applicable it should be sent copies of the originals and authenticated translations of the documents into English);

f)         Other documents that the candidate deems useful to demonstrate their qualifications and curriculum;

g)         Two recommendation letters;

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  • The candidate must have a strong motivation, resilience, excellent academic background and proficiency in spoken and written English. The selection process will be based on undergraduate study results, motivation, and a possible interview.
  • A proof of your proficiency in written and spoken English, (e.g. TOEFL test certificate) is not needed but is highly recommended;
  • Students are expected to support their accommodation, living costs, obligatory insurance and travel costs themselves. The University of Madeira and the partner institutions have services for foreign students that can provide assistance in arranging accommodation, insurances and other living arrangements;
  • Most students from countries outside the European Union are not eligible to apply for part-time work due to student visa regulations.
