The overall goal of the research project is to correlate the molecular structure of silicon-based preceramic polymers with the ceramic microstructure derived therefrom and to study the thermal stability of the synthesized materials in terms of decomposition, phase separation and crystallization. This procedure will allow to explain the interrelations between precursor, microstructure and properties.
As a Materials World Network project, this brings together researchers in Germany and U.S.A. and provides students and postdocs an opportunity to participate in both interdisciplinary and international materials research.

Qualification needed: post-graduate studies in chemistry
Duration: 3 years
Start date: immediately

Please submit: CV, brief description of research interests, recommendation letter(s)
