DTU Danchip invites applications for a position as Assistant Professor in technology development within micro- and nanofabrication with special focus on exploring new materials in the fields of Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD), and Chemical Vapour Depostion (PE-CVD and LP-CVD). Another field of focus is research that contributes to understand the general scaling of especially etching (including wet etching) processes from micro to nano size structures. The candidate is expected to start April 1, 2014 or as soon as possible thereafter.
DTU Danchip is one of the largest facilities in Northern Europe for top-down micro- and nanofabrication with a broad spectrum of advanced processing and measurement equipment supporting research, education and production activities in the fields of MEMS,NEMS, optical communication, µ-fluidics, and biochemistry.
Responsibilities and tasks
You will be hired on a 4 years contract to strengthen our current research activities and build-up new material platforms of general future interest for the users of our cleanroom. The main focus is to build a fundamental understanding of the deposition processes through careful and systematic studies of the inter-play between material properties and the parameter space of the deposition processes. Initially, ALD process technology development will have high priority. Here, we intend to pursue both growth of metal- as well as dielectric layers for making high-quality, ultrathin multi-layer films.
DTU Danchip/DTU CEN hosts a broad range of micro/nano-fabrication technologies as well as highly advanced characterization equipment which will be brought into extensive use in the studies. These include but are not limited to ALD, PECVD, LPCVD as well as PVD processing tools which in combination with the unique characterization capabilities including ellipsometry, AFM, XPS, and a world-class assembly of advanced FE-SEM / FIB-SEM and TEM. We expect the candidate to have an expertise in one or more of these fields and to have a broad understanding of the technologies.
The candidate will be responsible for training and supervision of Master- and PhD-students in the field.
Qualifications
Candidates must hold a PhD degree related to micro- and nanofabrication and at least one previous Postdoc position in the field. Moreover, the candidate should have:
- practical and theoretical experience with ALD and/or CVD processing
- a thorough understanding of the fundamental chemistry and physics governing cleanroom processing
- experience with most of the above mentioned characterization techniques
- documented scientific production at international level
- all-round cleanroom experience
Assessment
In the assessment of the candidates consideration will be given to
- experience in teaching and education
- scientific production and research potential at an international level
- the ability to promote and utilize research results
- an all-round experience basis, including international experience
- the ability to contribute to development of the department’s internal and external cooperation
For the specific position consideration will also be given to:
- postdoc position abroad – international experience
- ability to contribute to development of an international network
- knowledge of the Danish funding system
