I would like to bring the following opportunities to your attention and would be grateful if you could forward this announcement to interested candidates: In our newly established Physical Chemistry group at the University of Siegen (www.uni-siegen.de ) we will have openings for prospective Ph.D. students and postdocs. The research topics include: - Investigation and development of new surface reactions and transport processes in polymeric biointerface platforms - Investigation of fundamentals of new concepts for intelligent polymeric sensor coatings for label-free detection - Dynamics in Confined Systems by AFM approaches In general, the Physical Chemistry group is focused on the physical chemistry of organic & polymeric surfaces and interfaces, biointerfaces, molecular properties and dynamics in confined systems, as well as surface forces and surface analysis with scanning force microscopy. We offer in addition to a good infrastructure with state-of-the-art equipment an optimal embedding of our projects into the multidisciplinary environment of the Center for Micro- and Nanochemistry and the Forschergruppe "Lab on Microchip" in Siegen. Prerequisites for Ph.D. Graduate Students are a M.Sc. degree (or equivalent) in chemistry, with focus on "Physical Chemistry", "Polymer Chemistry or Physics" or "Materials Science" , excellent mastering of the English language, excellent communication skills, and an undergraduate course record in nanotechnology. Postdoctoral Research Associates (with Ph.D. degree) are expected to have a proven record of graduate research excellence in a project-relevant areas, a corresponding publication record, as well as a strong AFM background.
