Launch of the Nanoprobe Network

Greetings to any SPMers in the group! This is to announce the public launch of the Nanoprobe Network (http://www.nanoprobenetwork.org). The site is designed to be a collaborative resource for Scanning Probe Microscopists. The Network is a non-profit, web-based community for scientists, researchers, technicians, and students in industry, academia, and research labs around the world. The Wiki format of this Network will be a welcome change for those of us who have created HTML-coded web sites in the past. Rather than a static single-authored site which quickly becomes out of date, the Wiki method allows anyone to input their views and experiences to forums and resource pages. You can:- start creating or editing content within "Probe-Pedia" - the "Wikipedia"-inspired on-line guide to probe science and technology.- read and comment on the Blog posts contributed by leading experts.- participate in a Discussion Forum by asking or answering questions with other users, and making suggestions on how to improve the site itself.- interact in real time via RSS with groups to provide input, ask questions, and discuss your views during a specified time period on the website. You are also welcome to post comments anytime prior to or afterthe event. The goal is to have a comprehensive view of the field represented in the workshop report.- view, download, or contribute images, audio, video, software, news, and events. In addition, you can compete for prizes as part of the events celebrating the public launch of the Network. There will be cash awards for the Best Scanning Probe Image and the Best New Wiki Article that are submitted by Oct. 31, 2009.The goal of the NanoProbe Network is to provide an interactive web space for the exchange of information, ideas, techniques, protocols, images, software, and discussions.Let's hope you find this resource to be beneficial to your work.Peter Markiewicz.
