Nanoparticle-Protein and Nanoparticle-Cell Interaction

The Institute of Biophysics, University of Ulm, Germany, is seeking to fill a PhD student position for the study of nanoparticle-protein complexes and interactions between nanoparticles and cells, funded within the program SPP 1313 (Bio-Nano-Responses) of the German Science Foundation (DFG). At the institute, a variety of advanced fluorescence microscopy techniques are available, including ultra-high resolution variants (4Pi, TIR), in combination with quantitative fluorescence techniques with single-molecule sensitivity (FCS, FRET, FLIM). In this collaborative project, our group provides advanced fluorescence microscopy tools for the investigation of spatial and temporal aspects of specifically functionalized nanoparticles interacting with cultured cells. Deadline:: 15. November 2008 Long: 3 years Homepage: http://www.uni-ulm.de/en/nawi/nawi-biophys.html The position can be filled immediately. Applicants should be highly motivated and hold a Diploma or MSc in physics/biophysics or (bio-)physical chemistry.
