DTU Nanotech conducts cross-disciplinary research where micro- and nanotechnology is applied to a wide range of scientific disciplines as well as applications. The Nanoprobes group is a large and highly multi-cultural group, with different research branches focusing on biosensing, drug delivery and environmental monitoring.
Responsibilities and tasks
The Nanoprobes group at DTU Nanotech wishes to employ a senior scientist in a highly interdisciplinary project focusing on fabricating, characterizing and applying nanostructured substrates for surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) and related applications in solar cells and anti-bacterial coatings. The main tasks will be to explore and develop manufacturing technologies that are scalable in a variety of materials such as silicon, glass and polymers. The work will be carried out in close collaboration with different research groups and, within the framework of the recently granted Center of Excellence - IDUN. The successful candidate will play a leading role in the nanostructured substrate activities in the Nanoprobes group, interacting with several members working in different disciplines, such as optics, biochemistry, biology, microfluidics, pharmacology and polymer science.
Other content of the position:
- Research management
- Guidance and supervision of assistant professors and researchers
- Co-supervision of Ph.D. and master students.
- Academic assessment work
- Collaboration with other research groups/departments at DTU
Required qualifications
The ideal candidate holds a PhD in micro and nanofabrication and has several years of experience in dry etching of silicon-based materials as well as academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding a position as Researcher or Postdoc. A strong background in cleanroom technologies and advanced optical measuring techniques such as SERS is an advantage. Experience in designing and testing of microfabricated systems, experience in hot embossing and cleanroom fabrication are also considered valuable assets. Furthermore, a strong interest in reliable and reproducible maskless manufacturing of nanopillar substrates is required. We are looking for an independent researcher who works accurately and feels comfortable in a collaborative environment, and who is willing and qualified to take on a larger coordination role within fabrication of nanostructured surfaces.
Other relevant qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with:
- Innovative skills, ability to generate new ideas and to implement them in the experimental field
- Independent problem solving skills
- Excellent communication and language skills
- Experience from international collaborative projects
Assessment
In the assessment of the candidates consideration will be given to:
- scientific production and research potential at international level
- innovative skills and the ability to generate new ideas
- the ability to communicate at all levels such as the provision of scientific advice to public sector authorities
- the ability to promote and utilize research results
- an all-round experience basis, preferably including international experience
- the ability to contribute to development of the department’s internal and external cooperation
- the ability to teach and supervise students
We offer
We offer an interesting and challenging job in an international environment, with state-of-the-art facilities, and strong experimental as well as theoretical competences. The Nanoprobes group is an interdisciplinary and positive group with open-minded and supportive members.
