  • Nanotechnology is the understanding and control of matter at dimensions of roughly 1 to 100 nanometers, where unique phenomena enable novel applications. Encompassing nanoscale science, engineering and technology, nanotechnology involves imaging, measuring, modeling, and manipulating matter at this length scale.
At the nanoscale, the physical, chemical, and biological properties of materials differ in fundamental and valuable ways from the properties of individual atoms and molecules or bulk matter.
The field of nanocomposites involves the study of multiphase material where at least
one of the constituent phases has one dimension less than 100 nm. The promise of nanocomposites lies in their multifunctionality, the possibility of realizing unique combinations of properties unachievable with traditional materials.
This ability to tailor composites by using nanosize building blocks of heterogeneous chemical species has been demonstrated in several interdisciplinary fields.
Recently, nanoscale filled polymer composites in which the filler is <100 nm in at least one dimension was instead of traditional micrometer-scale polymer composites.
Widely Polymer nanocomposites used in several interdisciplinary fields.
  • Hi Everyone

I am PhD. student in Polymer Technology from Research Center for Applied Chemistry (CIQA). Department of Advanced Materials. Saltillo, México.

Recently I started to work with the synthesis, characterization and simulation of carbon nanotubes-polymer semicrystalline nanocomposites using extrusion process asisted with ultrasound.

My Master Degree Thesis was related with the synthesis and caharacterization of silver-hydrophobically asssociating polymer nanocomposites using electrospinning process.

Additionally, I have two request Mexican patents in antimicrobial paints based in silver-polymer nanocomposites and a novel dispersion method for the preparation of polymer nanocomposites in moltenprocess.

I would like to interchange experiences in this areas, and to learn from your experiences.
We should think that we are going to manage ourself a research group in the next future. Therefore, we will need to have many collaborations with scientist and students from other Continents.

    Thanks.

Well, I obtained my Master Degree in this same Institution.

  • Hi

I have a strong wish to collaborate or work with group to prepare a PhD thesis in a related subject with nanosciences and nanotechnologies.

I’m KHENFOUCH MOHAMMED, PhD student from morocco (Physics of solid state Laboratory-university of Fes).

I started preparing a PhD thesis last year exactly on may 2009, and now I had my registration for the second year, choosing the subject:
Physical and chemical study of graphene based nanocomposites for opto-electronic applications.

I want add that my master degree title is:
    Physics of materials and nanostructures

In the related traineeship I studied:
Experimental and theoretical study of the vibrational and electronic properties of the carbon nanotubes.

    In other traineeship :
Which I had during three months in Ithemba Labs in collaboration with the African Laser Center (ALC) nanosciences African network in South Africa, I studied:
“Photonics and transport properties of graphene polymer-based nano-composites by electro spinning”.

    Knowledge:
I have good background about :
    - polymer semiconductors and organic nanomaterials properties
    - Physics of semi-conductors and Nanomaterials
    - Nano-optic and photonics
    - Plasma physics and tokamak application
    - Physics of polymers, surfaces and interfaces
    - Nano-films elaboration technics
    - Carbon nanotubes synthesis, properties, simulation, and applications
    - Graphene synthesis and properties
    - Nanomagnetism and Spintronic
    - Nanosensors
    - Statistical physics and phases transitions
    - Quantum mechanics and groups theory
    - Programming using Matlab software …

    Characterisation technics
I used AFM, RAMAN, Infrared, SEM, XRD, and TG-DTA, and I have a good knowledge about XPS, Auger and STM.

    NB:
    - The graphene used in this study was my synthesis using chemical method.

    With best regards
    Mr.Mohammed KHENFOUCH

Progress in dispersion methods of nanoparticles into polymer matrices

The metalic, ceramic or carbon-based nanoparticles are of great interest in terms of their potential applications in biomedical, electronic, and opticalmaterials. The incorporation of these nanoparticles in polymer matrices is a field of particular interest for materials engineering and the study of nanoparticle-matrix interactions. The process of dispersing nanoparticles in a polymer matrix so that they remain isolated (i.e., dispersed) has proven to be problematic. Three general methods to…
