This group is dedicated to discussing stories about nanotech, especially people’s first experiences. How you did first hear about nanotech? How has its interdisciplinary nature changed how you see your work and the world around you?
Being a nanotech writer, I’ve come to appreciate the diverse personalities that drive these great new advancements. I believe that nanotech has many amazing stories to tell and shows how many perspectives of the world around us are constantly enhancing each other. As many of you know, nanotech is not a single field, but a constant collaboration between different disciplines. Nanotech shows us that science is not done in a vacuum. It is the collective efforts of people with different vantage points that allow us to move forward together. Thinking in an inclusive and integrative manner creates these breathtaking and elegant solutions.
I think it’s important to raise up the personal, along with the technology and research aspect our culture. We can all learn from each other’s backgrounds and experiences.
I have also added a fuller explanation on my blog about why I think talking about ‘nanotech firsts’ important. You can check it out and also add your stories there.
