The School of Nano Science and Technology at NIT Calicut, Kerala is offering M.Tech in Nanotechnology for students with B.Tech/BE in Mechanical/Production/Material Science/Metallurgy/Industrial/Chemical/Civil. NIT Calicut was the first to start an M.Tech programme in Nanotechnology among all IITs and NITs, as early as in 2008. Though the course is more oriented towards students from Mechanical Engineering, students from Chemical engineering, civil engineering, etc. have easily adapted and graduated with flying. 80% of the students who have passed out have proceeded for the PhD programmes at various prestigious institutions like University of Albany, TUDelft, NTU Singapore, IITs, IISc, etc. Since the nanotechnology industry in our country is not yet mature, finding placements wont be easy.
