This article gives a short overview of advanced technologies for detection and defence against chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) agents. Nanosensors are applied for monitoring physical and chemical phenomena in hard-to-reach regions, detecting biochemicals in cellular organs, measuring nanoscopic particles in industry and the environment. Nanosensors are detection devices with at least one of their detection dimensions up to 100 nm. The nanostructured materials used in the production of nanosensors are: nanomatic-scale wires (high detection capacity), carbon nanotubes (very large surface area), thin films, nanoparticles and polymer nanomaterials.
