Managing nanomaterials for commercial distribution is about good product stewardship, good information management, and good risk management. Manufacturers of nanomaterials need to understand their characteristics and the available research on them in order to be able to distinguish between sound science and purported science. Pleus, Ph.D., of Intertox will present "Steps to Address EHS Concerns that Businesses Should Consider Before Placing Nanomaterials on the Market."Presentation Summary: Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) practices are designed to reduce the risk of consumer and occupational exposures. The use of engineered nanomaterials by industry is on the rise as new applications are discovered. Dr. Pleus explores possible EHS concerns in relation to what business needs in order to minimize their business risk, while protecting the health and safety of their workers and the public.
