An opportunity to become acquainted with the results of research and development of nanomaterials in the Czech Republic and abroad as well as with concrete applications and to meet the world's leading scientists working on nanotechnology have participants of the tenth anniversary international conference NANOCON'17. This event is organized by the company TANGER Ltd. on 17th – 19th, October 2018 in Brno, in cooperation with the Czech Society for New Materials and Technologies and the Regional Centre of Advanced Technologies and Materials (RCATM) at the Faculty of Science of Palacky University in Olomouc.

Highly ranked keynote and invited speakers already confirmed their attendance. Plenary lecture will be given by Prof. Dr. Paras N. Prasat (University at Buffalo, New York State, U.S.A.) focusing on photonics and biology to impact on energy and health care, and Prof. Dr. Antonio H. Castro Neto (National University of Singapore and Boston University/USA), one of the leading theorists in the study of graphene.

Confirmed speakers include also: Prof. Dr. Wilfried Vandervorst (IMEC, Leuven, Belgium), Prof. Dr. Andrei V. Kabashin (CNRS, Aix-Marseille University, France), Dr. Antonín Fejfar (Institute of Physics CAS, Prague, Czech Republic), Prof. Dr. Karl-Heinz Ernst (Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology, Dübendorf, Switzerland) and others.

Nanomaterials - preparation, properties, characterization. Applications of nanotechnologies in industry, environment, medicine and biotechnology. The influence of nanomaterials to environment, health; metrology and standardization of nanomaterials. The topic nanomaterials for medicine will be accentuated in the X. NANOCON conference. The conference will be opened by the plenary session with the appearance of significant speakers focused on research and applications of nanomaterials. Conference abstracts will be accepted into five theme sessions:

Session A – Nanomaterials for Electronic, Magnetic and Optic Applications. Carbon Nanostructures, Quantum Dots,

Session B - Industrial & Environmental Applications of Nanomaterials,

Session C - Bionanotechnology, Nanomaterials in Medicine,

Session D - Monitoring and Toxicity of Nanomaterials,

Session E - Advanced Methods of Preparation and Characterization of Nanomaterials,
Poster Session A - E.

NANOCON is a popular conference among novice researchers. The prize of Dr. Tasilo Prnka, the conference founder and the promoter of nanotechnology in the Czech Republic, for the best lecture of young scientists under the age of thirty three years will be awarded.

As part of the poster session the Best Poster Contest will be announced. The first three winners and five honorable mentions will be awarded.

The conference NANOCON belongs among the most important events of its kind in the Central Europe. In the last year during the three days of the conference almost 90 lectures and 200 posters on fi ve diff erent thematic areas were presented for more than 350 participants from 23 countries.

The proceedings are sent for indexing in the database Web of Science/Web of Knowledge (Thomson Reuters and Scopus (Elsevier).
