The ICPC NanoNet project stimulates global networking in nanoscience and nanotechnology. This online workshop on Bridging the Nano Divide will enable researchers from different disciplines interested in socio-economic and innovation aspects of nanotechnology to meet and find out about each other’s expertise, infrastructure and research interests.Date: 20 October 2010, 12.45-15.15 GMT. (13.45-16.15 BST, 14.45-17.15 CET)Participation is free for registered users of the ICPC-NanoNet website (sign up free of charge).Register online at www.icpc-nanonet.org.Programme:12.45- 13.00 System Check, welcome participants, about ICPC-NanoNetLesley Tobin, Insitute of Nanotechnology, UK13.00-13.30 Tools for international cooperation for nano-innovation (suggested)Prof Dr Mammo Muchie, Professor of Innovation Studies at Tshwane University of Technology in Pretoria, South Africa and Aalborg University in Denmark and Oxford University, UK13.30- 13.45 Discussion13.45-14.15 Nanotechnology for a Knowledge Society (suggested)Prof Dr Arie Rip, Emeritus Professor in Philosophy of Science and Technology, University of Twente, Netherlands14.15- 14.30 Discussion14.30-15.00 Nanotechnology activities in CARICOM (suggested)Prof. Dr. Ishenkumba Kahwa, Professor of Supramolecular Chemistry at the University of the West Indies and Dean of the Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences at the University’s Mona Campus, Jamaica.15.00-15.15 Discussion and closureAbout the proposed speakers:Prof Dr Mammo Muchie, Professor of Innovation Studies at Tshwane University of Technology in Pretoria, South Africa and Aalborg University in Denmark and Oxford University, UK, Editor in Chief of the African Journal of Science, Technology and Innovation.Prof Dr Arie Rip, Emeritus Professor in Philosophy of Science and Technology, University of Twente, Flagship Captain Technology Assessment in national Nanotechnology programme NanoNed, The NetherlandsProf. Dr. Ishenkumba Kahwa is Professor of Supramolecular Chemistry at the University of the West Indies, Dean of the Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences at the University’s Mona Campus, Jamaica, and author of UNESCO Report on Sustainable Development Issues for the CARICOM countries.About ICPC-Nanonet:The ICPC-Nanonet project is funded by the European Union under FP7 for four years, from June 2008. It brings together partners from the EU, China, India, Russia and Africa and aims to provide wider access to published nanoscience research and opportunities for collaboration between scientists in the EU and International Cooperation Partner Countries. For further information about the ICPC-Nanonet project contact the project coordinator Lesley Tobin, Lesley.tobin@nano.org.uk, visit the website at http://www.icpc-nanonet.org or browse the free open-access nano publications archive at http://www.nanoarchive.org.More information and registration:http://www.icpc-nanonet.org
