My research field or area of interest innanotechnology

About 500 million years ago organisms started growing inorganic materials like calcium carbonate, silica, bone and glass. The synthesis process occurs through a biologically guided process known as biomineralization. Inspiring from this natural occurring process, my research effort focused on the development of novel strategies for the controlled nanomaterial synthesis using living organisms as natural nanomachinery and application of nanotechnology in medicine, environmental cleaning, and catalysis.

Our current research in the Environmental Technology Division focuses on exploitation of biological materials in synthesis of novel nanomaterial and their utilization for a range of application; from waste water management to biomedical science. The lab pursues a broad range of research interests that include biomimetics and bioinspired nanomaterial synthesis, understanding the fundamental mechanism of bioinspired nanomaterial synthesis, design of multi functional nanomaterials, utilization of bio and nanomaterials in pollution control management, and application of nanomaterials in catalysis, biosensing and biomedicine.
