My research field or area of interest innanotechnology

Ph.D Research  Designed efficient Field emitter nanotips based on Carbon Nanotubes (CNT) and Graphene by the help of plasma engineering and selective area CVD synthesis of carbon nanomaterials. (The aim was to develop high brightness and monochromatic electron source) A fully interfaced Field Emission setup and a Field Emission Microscope adjustment (FEM) was also been developed during this research.  Developed a novel way of thinning process of graphene flakes to achieve monolayer graphene from multilayer configuration. The process involves ultra-low energy plasma ion irradiation and it is also capable to purify graphene layers by eliminating unwanted functional groups attached within the structure.  Conducted field emission and crystalographic study of Cactus like CNTs, formed by plasma ion irradiation.  Studied the Opto-Electronic response of CNT and Graphene and developed vertically aligned graphene based highly sensitive and non-cryogenic Bolometric Sensors.  Worked on patterning of Carbon Nanotube based hollow channels for advanced nano-filtration applications. Also investigated selective area growth mechanism of CNTs upon patterning of catalyst in CVD technique  Effort has been made to develope transparent conducting membrane based on Carbon nanotubes and Graphene composites for flexible electronics.  Intensively worked on high quality and diameter selective synthesis of single-walled and multiwall carbon nanotubes. In-depth analysis of laser spectroscopy (Raman, IR and UV-Vis) and electron microscopy (HRTEM, SEM, FIB) have been involved throughout the research. Postdoctoral Research  Worked on designing of Micro-accelerator optoelectronic device for relativistic and non-relativistic electron acceleration. The aim was to build the Smallest Micro Accelerator on a dielectric chip.  Has lead the Nano-fabrication and characterization effort of the micro accelerator prototype, having dielectric slab symmetric structure. Fabrication of this optp-electronic structure involved thin film deposition of different dielectric materials, lithography, wafer polishing, bonding, dicing etc. SEM, FIB and UV-Vis techniques was intensively used for the prototype characterization.  Developed dielectric based high reflectance Bragg mirror with higher breakdown point.  Electron beam line testing (60 MeV) through the prototype at SLAC facility in Stanford University.  Studied Photo-field emission of wedge shaped nanometers for stream of electron sheet (2D) generation
