Yogendra Kumar Mishra is Professor MSO at Mads Clausen Institute, University of Southern Denmark (SDU), Sønderborg, Denmark. Prior to joining SDU, he was leading a scientifically independent group at Functional Nanomaterials Chair, Institute for Material Science, Kiel University, Kiel Germany. He did habilitation (Dr. habil.) in Materials Science from Kiel University in 2015 and Ph. D. in Physics in 2008 from Inter University Accelerator Centre/Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India. In Kiel, he introduced a new flame-based process for versatile nanostructuring of metal oxides and their 3D interconnected networks in form of flexible ceramics materials. These zinc oxide tetrapod nanostructures found many applications in engineering and biomedical fields. Additionally, he introduced a new field of hollow 3D tetrapodal materials engineering, i.e., by using these ZnO networks as sacrificial templates, almost any material can be synthesized in tetrapodal form. This sacrificial template-based strategy opened a completely new field materials engineering in the form of hybrid and new tetrapodal materials, many new scopes in the direction of understanding novel fundamental structure-property relationships. These 1D structures-based 3D hierarchical materials are of high interest from energy harvesting and storage technologies, including advanced fundamental aspects, like 3D piezotronics, etc. At SDU, NanoSYD, his main research focus is ‘Smart 3D Materials for Advanced Technologies’.


Dr. Mishra serves as editorial board member/associate editor in various magazines from American Chemical Society, Elsevier, Nature Publishing Group, MDPI, PLoS ONE, and others has also been actively participating in science communication to the society via various scientific and social media platforms. He is sitting in the advisory panel for various platforms, such as Elsevier, Springer Nature-Nano Initiative, etc. including the board of delegates at the European Materials Research Society. Dr. Mishra has been referee from more than 200 journals from various publishers (Springer-Nature, Wiley VCH, ACS, RSC, Elsevier, IOP, IEEE, MDPI, etc.) including top rank ones with high impact factor. He has been evaluating the grants from important funding agencies including EU, NSF-USA, AAAS, etc. and has been serving the scientific community in many other various capacities, such evaluation of book proposals, Ph.D. theses, Faculty promotions, Panelist at Graduate Student Awards in Materials Research Society (USA), etc. He is collaborating with prominent institutes worldwide, including Harvard University, MIT, UCLA, etc. Dr. Mishra has been organizer of various sessions in European MRS meetings and has given more than 40 scientific speeches in the capacity of Plenary, Keynote, Invited contributions. 


Dr. Mishra has published more than 170 publications which have cited over 7500 times with H-index of 50. Top rank publications are in Advanced Materials, Materials Today, Advanced Functional Materials, Nano Energy, Applied Physics Reviews, Materials Horizons, Nano Letters, Science Advances, Nature Communications, etc., including two granted patents and many successful grants. He has supervised more than 10 Ph. D. students as well as many M. Sc. and B. Sc. students with more than 10 years of teaching experience in the field of Solid State Physics and Semiconductor Optoelectronics.
