Abstract: The viability and adhesive properties of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria in the presence of certain carbon nanoparticles were tested simultaneously using our method developed recently. Fullerene, multi-walled (long and short), single-walled (long) and pegylated carbon nanotubes do not affect the viability of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. The presence of all these nanoparticles but pegylated one result in almost 100% adhesion of the bacteria to the wall of the sample container. Pegylated single-walled carbon nanotube prevents adhesion of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria to the wall of the sample container as it was found previously for the amidated ones as well. Further measurements are needed to interpret these results.
