Abstract: Crystalline Zn-Ni9S8 and nickel sulfide /zinc sulfide (NixS6 /ZnS) nanocomposites were prepared by the hydrothermal method. The prepared nanomaterials were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), high resolution-scanning electron microscopy (HR-SEM) and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) techniques. The XRD analysis revealed the formation of monoclinic phase NixS6 /rhombohedral phase ZnS for the prepared nanocomposites. The electrochemical behavior of the crystalline Zn-Ni9S8 and NixS6/ZnS nanocomposites modified electrodes was investigated using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), cyclic voltammetry (CV) and galvanostatic charge-discharge (GCD) techniques. The specific capacitances of 65.33 F/g and 10.77 F/g were achieved for the Zn-Ni9S8 and NixS6/ZnS nanocomposite, respectively.
