University of Oxford: Postgraduate Certificate in Nanotechnology

The University of Oxford's Postgraduate Certificate in Nanotechnology is accepting applications for the 2014-15 academic year.

The Postgraduate Certificate in Nanotechnology is a unique online, part-time qualification aimed at professionals from a diverse range of backgrounds who wish to learn more about the foundations of nanotechnology, technological advances and the applications it enables.

The course has been developed to introduce fundamental material essential to the understanding of nanotechnology. Its content has been designed to enhance career development that is recognised and accepted within industry, and there are opportunities to access cutting-edge research and current practice in a wide range of nanotechnology topics.

It comprises three modules, each lasting for 10 weeks corresponding approximately to the University of Oxford's term calendar:

  • Module 1: The Wider Context of Nanotechnology
  • Module 2: The Fundamental Science of Nanotechnology
  • Module 3: Fundamental Characterisation for Nanotechnology

The modules are taught through a blend of independent study of online learning materials and group work which takes place during discussions and research, as well as weekly live online tutorials. At the end of the third module students attend a residential weekend based at the University of Oxford’s Begbroke Science Park.

The course can be taken from anywhere in the world by those seeking a solid foundation in nanotechnology.

Applications will be accepted until Friday, 27 June 2014.

We recommend that all applications should be submitted early so that they can be checked for completeness before the deadline.

Welcome - about us

Welcome! Nanopaprika was cooked up by Hungarian chemistry PhD student in 2007. The main idea was to create something more personal than the other nano networks already on the Internet. Community is open to everyone from post-doctorial researchers and professors to students everywhere.

There is only one important assumption: you have to be interested in nano!

Nanopaprika is always looking for new partners, if you have any idea, contact me at
