Osaka Prefecture University is holding open recruitment for two seventh-term special lecturers in tenure-track positions in the “Leading University as a Base for Human Resource Development in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology” program of Research Organization for the 21st Century in our university. The program named NanoSquare® has been designed to conduct the “High Incentive Type Tenure-Track System” of the university, and was evaluated as the highest “rank S” not only in overall judgment but also in all five individual items in the assessment of fiscal 2010 conducted by the Government. Our university has already hired fourteen tenure-track faculty members for the first five years under the PHASE-I of the NanoSquare program. Under the PHASE-II for the subsequent five years, two tenure-track faculty members have already been hired in fiscal 2013, and two tenure-track positions will be provided in fiscal 2014.

Two tenure-track special lecturers hired under this recruitment will be appointed to the position on April 1, 2014. The recruitment will be conducted as per the following percentage guidelines throughout the duration of the program: female researchers 20%; those from other institutions 50%; and those who have experience at our university 30%. The university has set a special quota to encourage female researchers to apply, but this is not intended to limit the number of female researchers. In order to actively promote the recruitment of female researchers, we are preparing a support system.

Tenure-track special lecturers acknowledged as qualified by a stringent final examination will be hired as tenured associate professors (or accelerated promotion to tenured professor if they have shown an excellent record of achievements) at Osaka Prefecture University from April 2019. In such a case, they will be able to carry out their education and research activities after being placed in a department and faculty appropriate to their fields of study.
