Job description:
Within the UT Research Institutes the field of Computational Science is of vital importance in many areas in the (geo)physical, technical and biophysical sciences. In particular, the accurate and efficient solution of (stochastic) partial differential equations is crucial for many research activities.

We are looking for a highly talented research scientist with an outstanding track record in the development, analysis and application of finite element or (stochastic) multiscale methods for partial differential equations. The candidate should have a special interest and demonstrated ability in applications in the area of energy research. Examples are solar cells (nano-photonics), seismic wave analysis and novel materials for energy conversion and storage.

The successful candidate is expected to be a pro-active individual, ready and capable to create links between mathematics and the multi-disciplinary context at the University of Twente.

The candidate will actively participate in the research within the Department and develop a profile by collaborating with colleagues in the UT MESA+ Institute for Nanotechnology, which has a very strong international reputation and offers ample opportunities for collaboration.

You are expected to build your own research line and research group, and acquire external funding, particularly via the NWO Innovational Research Incentives Scheme (VENI/VIDI/VICI) and the European Research Council grants.

The Tenure Track in Computational Science will be involved in the teaching program of the Department of Applied Mathematics and is also expected to transfer his/her own specific expertise to the master program. The candidate is required to obtain the Basic Teaching Qualification (BKO).

Requirements:
We expect a strong track record of innovative research and publications in leading international journals, and the ambition and potential to acquire personal research grants in the Netherlands and from EU, as well as external funding for fundamental and applied research. Moreover, the candidate should be an independently working researcher with excellent communication skills. The candidate should have the potential to become full professor closely after successfully completing the Tenure Track appointment.
