Single Molecule Microbiology

PhD Positions in Single Molecule Microbiology
The project group “Single Molecule Microbiology” is looking for PhD students
with a keen interest in applying physical methods to complex biological systems to start from December 2014.
Our group develops quantitative, experimental and theoretical approaches to study the spatial and dynamic principles of organisation in living organisms.
Candidates should feel comfortable working in a multidisciplinary and international environment. The projects will combine knowledge of advanced fluorescence microscopy, single molecule methods, molecular biology
techniques and quantitative data analysis. Previous experience in e.g. microbiology, applied optics or bioinformatics is ideal.

Our lab is located at the Department of Systems and Synthetic Microbiology of the Max Planck Institute for Terrestrial Microbiology and is embedded into the LOEWE center for synthetic microbiology (SYNMIKRO) in Marburg.

Depending on the background and preferences of the candidate, the project can be focused in a biological or a physical direction and can be either more experimental or theoretical oriented.

If you are interested to join the group, please send us your CV and a motivation letter including your scientific background by e-mail to ulrike.endesfelder@synmikro.mpi-marburg.mpg.de until October 19, 2014.

For further information or more details on specific projects have a look at the website (http://www.mpi-marburg.mpg.de/endesfelder) or contact us by email.
