The post is a joint appointment between the Schools of Environment and Technology and Pharmacy and Biomolecular Sciences to support development of the new NERC funded X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy facility. You will have experience in XPS or equivalent surface analysis techniques as well as an established research profile that will enhance the internationally rated research undertaken within the university.
To succeed, you will have a good (1 or 2:1) degree in Geosciences, Chemistry or other relevant physical science (in exceptional cases a closely related cognate area may be considered), a postgraduate qualification/PhD or an equivalent level of professional experience, in a relevant area of geoscience, chemistry, biosciences, materials science or surface analysis and sufficient, up to date breadth or depth of specialist knowledge in XPS and surface analysis, and of research methods and techniques, to work within established research programmes and develop new research areas supported by XPS analysis.
