Research Technician for AFM-Raman Imaging of Biofilms

Position is available for 1-2 yeas at the University of Toronto Scarborough to maintain the infrastructure in a state of readiness for research.  Our group focuses on bio-minerals formation in aquatic environments, from freshwater to marine systems.

Our new state-of-art AFM/Raman system is dedicated to investigate cell-minerals interactions, especially carbonate formations on cyanobacterial cells surfaces. The other topic we work on is the role of extracellular polymeric substances on mineral formations.

This position aims to support our group in the establishing and maintaining the AFM/Raman system. Ideal candidate is experienced AFM/Raman specialist who completed master or PhD thesis. There will be chance to work on our research projects and a perspectives to continue research in our group after finishing this position.

Experience in AFM/Raman imaging of biological materials are required.
Knowledge of biomineralization, cell culturing and biofilms is desirable.
