Programming of the nano-satellite’s On Board Computer, Integration of the On Board Computer with the nano-satellite subsystems, programming of the Data Acquisition Unit of the nano-satellite.

Description

The research group of the Space Research Laboratory of the Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH/SRL) has been selected to join the QB50 European initiative for the launch of 50 nano-satellites of the CubeSat standard in the upper atmosphere by 2015. Through this initiative a launch opportunity, science payload and ground communications are provided by the QB50 project, whereas the development of each CubeSat is to be performed by the host institution. The objective of the "ARISTEIA" project is to support the DUTH/SRL team in building the Greek QB50 CubeSat. In parallel, the team at DUTH/SRL will design a niche technology ultra-low-power data acquisition unit including a novel 100 μW 12-bit ADC in a single chip, immune to space radiation dose levels > 1 Mrad. This chip will be designed so as to collect and digitize analog signals from multiple sensors and forward them to the s/c computer for processing and transmission. The simulations of the designed chip will demonstrate its unique advantages for use in nano-satellites and the next generation pico-satellites. The novel data acquisition chip is expected to outperform by a large factor the best currently available unit in the space market in terms of power and radiation hardness. Required qualifications: Formal and Essential Qualifications:  Doctoral degree related to satellite applications and/or satellite systems.  Certified knowledge of the English Language. Qualifications also taken into account:  Experience from work related to programming of Embedded Systems Criteria of Evaluation : Grade and Affinity of Doctorate Degree: 5-6,99 = 1 point, 7-8,99=2 points, 9-10=3 points. Knowledge of English Language: Excellent = 3 points, Very Good = 2 points, Good = 1 points. Experience: Proven experience in similar or relevant employment in the public or private sector (0 to 4 points) 0,5 points for each six months of proven experience up to the completion of four years or 8 half-year periods.
