The NANO research centre of the University of Antwerp is a consortium formed by three research groups (EMAT, CMT and Plasmant) with Prof. Jo Verbeeck as spokesperson. Recently, this consortium was nominated by the University of Antwerp as Consortium of Excellence. Within this new framework we are currently looking for:

A research manager for the NANO Consortium of Excellence

Job description

  • You will coordinate and manage running scientific projects.
  • You will provide support in writing project reports.
  • You will present the consortium at project information meetings.
  • You will provide support in obtaining externally funded research grants.
  • You will actively promote the consortium research towards the public and funding agencies.
  • You will maintain a website presenting the consortium.
  • You will organise project meetings, workshops and congresses.
  • You will explore new funding possibilities and support the process of writing new proposals for the consortium members.
  • You will support the consortium in archiving and Open Access issues.

Profile and requirements

  • You hold (or get during the application period) a doctorate degree (PhD) or Master in physics/chemistry/materials science.
  • You are an excellent communicator.
  • You have outstanding presentation skills (also in English).
  • You have excellent technical writing skills (also in English).
  • You have the ability to successfully bridge the gap between scientific jargon and the public.
  • You can build and maintain a modern website.
  • You are aware of the latest in social networks and interactive media.
  • You have demonstrated organisational skills.
  • Management experience in research is an advantage.
  • You have good knowledge of materials science and characterization.
  • You are fluent in English, quality-oriented and creative.
  • You are highly motivated and eager to emerge in several scientific projects.

  • A position at the master or postdoctoral level for a period of five years (in case of positive evaluation after the first year) .

  • A full time gross monthly salary ranging from € 1.955,72 to € 3.309,68;
